SO excited about my new project, Giveaways that Give Back!
I will be purchasing lovely things from lovely people and organisations, as a way of making my own contribution to the causes that I want to support, as well as then giving away the lovely things to my lovely readers! If I love something too much I will buy one for myself as well! (there is a whole lotta love in that mouthful!)
Ashley LeMieux is one seriously 'shining soul sister' in the world of doing good. Somewhere along the long, winding roads of my cyber explorations I came across Ashley's Shine Project and knew that I wanted to be involved. Ashley is just bursting with energy, light and motivation to change the world.
The beautiful little necklace above was inspired by Ashley's compassionate visit to a widow back in early 2011, click here to read about that visit. Since that first necklace was made Ashley has been selling these to raise funds for her Shine Scholarship Project. The scholarship project is aimed at sending high school students to collage that may not otherwise have been able to afford furthering their education and realising their dreams.
Since making contact with Ashley and constantly marvelling at how she fits so much goodness into each and every day I have become more and more in awe of the impact she is having on the world around her. It is such a warm fuzzy pleasure to be launching my Giveaways that Give Back with one of Ashley's shine necklaces!
If you would like the chance to win the necklace I have photographed above please read on and I look forward to seeing your entry and making a difference together xox

ReplyDeleteI hope this doesn't sound as though I am big noting myself as I really don't want to come across like that.
ReplyDeleteA little bit before Xmas last year I was shopping in Woolworths with my kids. We were at the meat section looking at lamb roasts and I was standing alongside an elderly couple. The lady commented to me about how expensive the roasts were. She stood and looked at them a bit longer and then said "I guess I will go and get a few slices of roast beef from the deli section. That will do us" and they left.
I continued shopping but couldn't get her out of my head. I had noticed the meagre groceries in her trolley and it got me thinking about my own grandparents. So I told my son to go and grab a lamb roast and then gave him $20 and instructed him to go and buy it and then bring it back to me. He did so. I then sent him over to the elderly couple and told him to give it to the lady and wish her a Merry Xmas.
He came back to me and said she didn't want to take it and seemed embarrassed. Then my daughter said "Uh oh....she's coming over here Mum". I felt bad. Did I embarrass her? Had I made the wrong decision? Perhaps I should have minded my own business? But the lady came up to me, hugged me, and said "Thankyou so much. Bless you. Bless you. You are an angel. You don't know what this means to us". We both stood there crying and at that moment I realised that I had done the RIGHT thing. Something kind from my heart and it felt great!

ReplyDeleteLisa, there is your winner x
i agree, i love Kylee's response...
ReplyDeletefor me, to be perfectly honest, i have big plans. i have so many ideas. but so many that i often don't get to complete them all. or they are just in my head...
but i do always try my hardest to give when i can. i offer a lot of advice and ideas to small business owners - i LOVE to see them get off the ground. just little small things. but i do believe they make a difference.
you have inspired me though, to make more of an effort to follow through with some of my ideas!!!
