Chicken Soup for the Head and Soul

Is my body trying to tell me something? It is the week of one of my biggest national fundraising events, Loud Shirt Day. I have worked with great passion and commitment to revive this event and raise as much as possible to give the gift of sound and speech to deaf children. Funny that as the week begins so does a nasty head cold, confining me to the daybed! big BLAH to that!

Rather than take this on board personally, I am accepting the lesson and taking a SOUL-filled approach to ridding my body of these toxins. Inspired by Louise Hay and her theory that sometimes things get worse before they get better when we are making a significant change in life, I am working on a positive approach to my recovery. Recently I made some changes to my eating regime, removing excess sugar and getting back  on track with my wellbeing. It seems that things are indeed shifting and this head cold is all a part of that process. I am also a little overwhelmed with lack of sleep and the ongoing management of my back pain.

So in the interest of sharing and caring, these are the steps that I am taking to rid myself of the head cold and embrace the lesson within the nasty germs:

Rest is of course the most important element of any healing. As a single Mamma with several jobs and volunteer projects my ability to dedicate time to rest is limited. We must prioritise our own wellbeing, think very carefully about what can wait, what someone else can do and what is most important in the long term?

Drink lots of water, hydration plays a big part in ridding the body of germs and keeping energy levels as high as possible. I am currently drinking 2 litres a day.

Chicken Soup does help! It needs to be power packed though! I just made my own little concoction from ingredients I had in the house: I made some dumplings with chicken mince, panko crumbs, an egg and garlic salt. I simmered them in some vege stock, then added grated zucchini, lots of grated fresh ginger, finely diced red onion and half a cup of basmati rice. Simply simmer until the rice is cooked and then season, SO good.

Garlic always seems to work for me, I simply cut peeled garlic cloves into small pieces and swallow 4-5 cloves with water over the course of the day.

Super Greens are a part of my new regime and a part of the process to rid my body of these unwanted germs! I am currently taking the Go Pure Super Greens.

Meditate, imagine a clear sunny day, fresh green grass and a soft breeze blowing the germs away and bringing in the clarity of mind that we so desperately seek when clogged up with a head cold!

BE well lovelies.
